Located in Bemerton Heath, the cycling facility is now open to the public in Salisbury.

The track is designed for bikes, skateboards and scooters, and aims to support outdoor activity for residents of all ages and abilities.

It was created following strong community involvement through the Bemerton Bright Ideas Community Panel and the Community Conversations programme.

In attendance at a special opening event on Thursday, December 4, was local resident Esme Ward. Esme competes as a GB BMX rider in the age 14 girls challenge class and is currently ranked 8th in the world after competing in this year’s world championships in Copenhagen.

Sam Goss, a Bemerton Heath resident and panel member, said: “We are incredibly excited about the new pump track that has been brought to the estate by Community Conversations.

“This is turning a poorly used space into a venue for the whole of Wiltshire and will put Bemerton Heath on the map.

“It is going to bring so many people to Salisbury.”

The pump track is the result of strong local engagement through Community Conversations and the Bemerton Bright Ideas Community Panel.

The track, built by specialists at On Track, is located at the end of Western Way.

Cllr Ian Thorn, leader of Wiltshire Council, said: “We’re thrilled to see the Bemerton Heath Pump Track open and ready for use.

“This is a brilliant new space for people to be active, connect with others, and enjoy the outdoors.”

Cllr Sam Charleston, Leader of Salisbury City Council, said: “The new pump track in Bemerton Heath provides a great activity for the residents of Salisbury and nearby communities, while also attracting visitors from farther away.

“It’s a fantastic addition to the area, and we’re proud to take on its ongoing care and maintenance.”

The track has been funded by Wiltshire Council with a £250,000 investment, supported by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

Salisbury City Council will be responsible for its ongoing maintenance.

Due to limited parking at the site, visitors are encouraged to walk, cycle, or use public transport where possible.

Community Conversations focuses on local areas of need and asks people living there to join together, share ideas and see how they can inspire and make a difference where they live.
