A well-known British YouTuber challenged himself to survive solely on Wetherspoons grub for three whole days—and couldn’t believe how little it cost him.
The video maker, who operates under the name Just Deano, tucked into an assortment of brekkie, lunch and tea options, throwing in the occasional pint of Guinness along the way. Though he ended up feeling stuffed and struggling to force down any more food, his wallet remained remarkably unscathed compared to his belly.
Reflecting on his Spoons marathon, he revealed: “Wow… what a three days that was! The total spend of this video was £44.38 over three days at Wetherspoons. It would have been more if I had three meals each day but it was physically impossible.”
He went on: “It was averaging out at £14.80 per day, which, say you have eaten out and not cooked, that isn’t bad, is it? And that is more expensive because of the Christmas dinner you could definitely get that down, because the Christmas dinner was atrociously expensive for what you get.”
So what did Deano actually manage to scoff for that remarkably modest sum?

Kicking things off at The Richard Oastler in Huddersfield, Deano grabbed himself a modest fry-up featuring a fried egg, bacon, sausage, beans and a hash brown—all for a mere £2.99.
Afterwards, he shared his verdict: “You know what it is, some people slag off Wetherspoons breakfasts, but for £2.99, under 500 calories, it is a decent, consistent breakfast. I’ve got no problems with it.”
The real showstopper, though, came at lunchtime when he tucked into a festive pizza loaded with turkey, stuffing and brie, which cost him £7.96 alongside a soft drink. He hailed the dish as “phenomenal” and later crowned it the star of his entire challenge.
Day Two

Such was the pizza’s hefty portion that Deano couldn’t manage a third meal that evening, but he was determined to tick off breakfast, lunch and dinner on his second day.
He kicked things off with a lighter option of fresh fruit and yoghurt, though at £3.49, it was slightly pricier than expected.
Come lunchtime, he grabbed a British beef and pancetta lasagne with salad and a soft drink for £6.97, once again singing its praises for value.
But his main event was at The Cherry Tree, where he splashed out £12.52 on a Christmas dinner accompanied by a pint of Guinness.
Reflecting on the meal, he said: “As you know, I’m a big Wetherspoons advocate, I do like some of the food in there.

“But if I was going to choose a festive meal, I wouldn’t choose the festive dinner I’ve just had. As you saw on the plate there, I did leave a bit of the carrots and parsnips, bit tough, not cooked enough through.
“It was just okay. The elite stuff is the pizza! The pizza yesterday was just out of this world. That has been my favourite so far. But for today, my favourite must be the lasagne.”
Day Three
After polishing off lasagne at lunch and a full Christmas roast the previous day, it’s no surprise Deano wasn’t keen on a Wetherspoons breakfast on day three, opting instead to hold out until lunchtime. During his culinary adventure, he popped into The Lord Wilson in Huddersfield, where he treated himself to a Shwarama chicken wrap and a Monster drink for a mere £6.

Come dinner time, he indulged in a hearty steak and ale pudding, accompanied by a soft drink, all for the bargain price of £4.65.
He couldn’t help but rave about the “absolute bargain” prices at the pub chain, defending it against critics. Deano mused: “People slate Wetherspoons, and I don’t know if it’s just because I’m naturally a bit of a tight git, but the value here… I think this was £6.09 with a pint. You can spend £6.09 on a pint! And here you get your tea with it. If I was a single man, or didn’t have a family and I was fending for myself, this would do me on an evening.”
Reflecting on his three-day food journey, he declared the pizza as the standout dish “without a shadow of a doubt” urging viewers to always explore the specials menu.
After sharing his video online, which you can watch in full here, one viewer responded: “I would be happy with that food any day of the week, great value.”
Another chimed in: “There’s lots choice at Wetherspoons at reasonable prices. Not all spoons have specials though.”
