A Liverpool restaurant was among a number of businesses fined for illegal working, according to government data. Elif Turkish BBQ Restaurant, which has sites in Childwall, on Lark Lane and on Bold Street in Liverpool city centre, has been fined £30,000.

The latest government data covers July 1 to September 30, 2024 and shows that other Liverpool businesses fined include car washes, takeaways and a convenience store. The government website states: “This quarterly report lists employers in the UK that have received fines (civil penalties) for illegal working.

“The report lists fines given to employers who have not paid or are not making regular payments towards a penalty 28 days after they have exhausted all their objection and/or appeal rights.”

It also includes: “Employers who have been served with a second or further penalty once they have exhausted all their objection and/or appeal rights regardless of whether any payment has been made.”

Quality Hand Car Wash – Belle Vale Car Wash Ltd, Childwall Valley Road, Liverpool, L25 2RJ – £45,000.00

Chesters Chicken – Saru (NW) Ltd, Childwall Valley Road, Liverpool, L25 2RJ – £10,000.00

Go Local Extra – Freshways Hatton Gardens Ltd, Victoria Hall, 29 Hatton Garden, Liverpool, L3 2EZ – £40,000.00

The Original Famous Blue Star, 1 Stopgate Lane, Liverpool, L9 6AN £30,000.00
