Liverpool have already been linked with several players ahead of the January transfer window. The Reds’ recent slump has fuelled transfer speculation as Arne Slot searches for solutions to get his side back to their title-winning best.

Mohamed Salah has been one of the star names rumoured with a move away from Liverpool after struggling to replicate his prolific form from last term. Meanwhile, Liverpool boss Slot has addressed Reds loanee Harvey Elliott’s lack of game time at Aston Villa.

Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo is among the players who have been tipped to bolster Liverpool’s squad in the January window. Here, Mirror Football looks at some of the headlines surrounding the Reds.

Antoine Semenyo ‘next step’ message

Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo has been consistently linked with a move away from the Cherries due to the £65million release clause in his contract. The 25-year-old agreed a new contract in the summer but is reportedly a target for several clubs after netting six league goals this season.

Semenyo is aiming for a successful campaign ahead of representing Ghana at the World Cup. The striker could play against England during the group stage and his international manager Otto Addo believes Semenyo is ready for the next stage of his career.

“He has done very well at Bournemouth, but with all the respect for Bournemouth and what they’re doing, surely it is natural for him to take the next step,” Addo told The Athletic after Friday’s World Cup draw.

“Whether it’s in the winter or summer, it is a [different] question but it won’t make a difference for us. I’m looking forward to him showing more of what he can to the world.”

However, Liverpool are likely to face competition from Manchester United, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur for Semenyo’s signature. Despite being the subject of interest in the summer, Semenyo signed a new long-term deal with Bournemouth.

Liverpool defender Joe Gomez has reportedly emerged as a target for AC Milan. The 28-year-old is the club’s longest-serving player.

Calcio Mercato reports that Milan view Gomez as a “desirable” option as the club search for defensive reinforcements. The Italian giants were previously interested in the versatile defender this summer.

However, Gomez has become an increasingly important player for Liverpool in recent weeks. The England international made his first league start of the season against West Ham last weekend and provides cover across a variety of positions during a hectic period of the season.

Gomez joined Liverpool from Charlton Athletic in 2015. He has played 250 games for the club, winning two Premier League titles and the 2019 Champions League.
