A man aged in his 70s was rescued from a stretch of water at a reservoir beauty spot on Sunday morning.

Emergency services were called to the scene at Jumbles Country Park, north of Bolton, at around 9.30am.

It’s understood an air ambulance was also alerted to the emergency, with reports suggesting a large emergency services response at the scene.

The man was subsequently taken to hospital, where it’s understood his condition is now stable.

It’s understood reports to police were made after concerns for the man’s welfare.

The reservoir, a popular walking site, is close to the border with Lancashire, near Turton Tower in the Valley of Bradshaw Brook.

In a statement, GMP said: “Officers were called to reports of a man in the water at Jumbles Reservoir, Bolton, at around 9.30am today – Sunday December 7.

“He has since been taken to hospital for treatment and enquiries are ongoing.”

No further information has been provided.
