The remaining five celebrities returned to the Strictly ballroom on Saturday evening as the quarter-final of the competition arrived, and tonight another duo was voted out of the competition.

Following their dances, EastEnders star Balvinder Sopal and Australian dancer Julian Caillon, internet sensation George Clarke and US partner Alexis Warr, and Emmerdale actor Lewis Cope and professional dancer Katya Jones were all awarded 35 points by the judges.

Former Lioness Karen Carney and Carlos Gu landed at the bottom of the leaderboard with 34 points following their samba to The Rhythm Of Life from Sweet Charity.

The Strictly Come Dancing Musicals Week results show, aired on Sunday (December 7), saw Lewis and Katya leave the competition, following a dance-off against Amber and Nikita.

Both couples performed their routines again, with Amber and Nikita performing their Charleston to ‘Sit Down, You’re Rockin’ the Boat’ from Guys and Dolls.

Lewis and Katya performed their Salsa to ‘Dance at the Gym’ from West Side Story.

After both couples had danced a second time in the dance off, the judges delivered their verdicts.

Head Judge Shirley Ballas chose to save Amber and Nikita, while Anton Du Beke opted to save Amber and Nikita.

Craig Revel Horwood voted to save Amber and Nikita, and Motsi Mabuse, who this week had the casting vote, also decided to save Amber and Nikita, who secured their place in Strictly’s Semi Final, sending Lewis home.

When asked by Tess about his time on the show, Lewis said: “It’s been more than I could have ever wished for. If someone had said that I’d have done 11 weeks on the show at the beginning, I’d have been over the moon and snap their hand off.

“So, thank you to the full show, to everyone for having a space where people can be themselves, grow, learn, express themselves.”

The former Emmerdale star added: “It’s been incredible and a memory that I’ll have for the rest of my life, and [to Katya] I think it’s all down to you.

“You’ve literally given me absolutely everything I could wish for as a friend, as a teacher, and yeah, I couldn’t imagine it with anybody else. So, thank you very much.”

Strictly fans flooded social media to share their disappointment, with one person writing: “I wanted Lewis to win too #strictly.” A second stated, “Lewis is going home then. This is ridiculous. #Strictly.”

A third chimed in: “Not interested anymore. I only watched it for Lewis. I find the others boring.”

“What !!!!!!!! The judges sent Lewis home as the best dancer on the show for years !!!!! I can’t believe it”, added another.
