Christmas shopping can either be the bane of someone’s festive period, or a key element of joy. Sometimes, when you’ve exhausted all of what your local shopping scene has to offer, it can be worth heading somewhere different for a change of scenery.

Fortunately for us here in Bristol, there’s no shortage of places to journey to for a spot of Christmas shopping. Just a short commute away you have places like Bath, with its world famous Christmas market and historic architecture, Wells with its small independents and local marketplace, while a little further afield you have the quirkiness of Glastonbury and other spots like Gloucestershire and Cheltenham to explore.

One popular shopping destination that many like to visit is the Clark’s Village in Street. Just over an hour’s drive from Bristol, it has big brands and restaurants – plus during the festive season, it puts on a number of wintry events and attractions to explore.

It’s often recommended on social media by people in Bristol looking for somewhere different to do their shopping, especially when looking for big recognisable brands, a place to eat and ways to spend the time. But what else can you do in the area during the Christmas period?

Clark’s Village is home to brands like Asics, Barbour, Calvin Klein, a Cadbury Outlet, Claire’s Accessories, Clarks, Crew Clothing, Dune London, FatFace, Hallmark, Haribo, Hobbs, Holland & Barrett, Hotel Chocolat, Jack Wills, Levi’s, Lindt, an M&S Outlet, Menkind, Next Clearance, Mountain Warehouse, The Body Shop, The North Face, The Perfume Shop, Tommy Hilfiger, Vans, Vodafone, Yankee Candle, and (believe it or not) many many more.

It also offers dog-friendly shopping in some of the stores on site, and has won awards for doing so, meaning you can bring your well-behaved four legged friend with you. The same can be said for dining, too, with a number of dog-friendly food and drink spots among the list of restaurants, bars and cafes – including Bill’s, Caffe Nero, Costa Coffee, Prezzo, Slim Chickens, Wagamama, and more.

If you head to the Clark’s Village website before you visit, you can also find a list of special offers available from some of the brands at Clark’s Village, from food and drinks deals to money off items in store.

Until December 24, the shopping venue is also hosting an artisan Christmas market filled with handcrafted gifts, festive decorations and seasonal treats made by local makers. This year’s event includes traders serving up vodka, bubble tea, crumpets, coffee, brews, desserts, hotdogs, and a variety of handmade creations.

Festive Artisan Market and Late-Night Opening for Black Friday Weekend at Clarks Village

There’s an on-site ice rink open until January 4. It sits undercover, with a variety of ticket options available to pre-book (parent and toddler sessions, disco nights, themed sessions, quiet sessions and even an ‘Elves on Ice’ event). You can book your tickets here.

Elsewhere in Street, you can enjoy attractions like the Shoe Museum or Strode Theatre, as well as more local markets. You’re also a short trip away from wintry walks in the countryside, views from Glastonbury Tor, a cosy pub or two, or a day of exploring what other nearby towns and villages have to offer.
