KNOX COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) – A Laurel County man is facing several charges following an attempted traffic stop Tuesday.
A trooper initiated a traffic stop after seeing a white Ford Ranger cut off another vehicle while on KY 229 in Knox County.
Police say the driver refused to stop before turning onto Horse Hollow Road, a dead-end road.
The man fled into the woods and was later found by a trooper near a creek bank, where he was arrested.
Alex Smallwood, 46, of London, is facing the following charges:
- Fleeing or Evading Police 1st (Motor Vehicle)
- Fleeing or Evading Police 1st (On Foot)
- Criminal Mischief 2nd
- Improper Passing
- Speeding 15 MPH over the limit
- Wanton Endangerment 2nd (Police Officer)
- Driving on a DUI Suspended License 1st.
Smallwood is being held in the Knox County Detention Center.
