Have you ever felt Champagne was too fancy or not in your price range? Well, Manchester is set to welcome a Champagne boutique this December – and it’s the first of its kind in the UK. Named Portfolio, the boutique’s mission is simple: to make Champagne feel less exclusive and more Manchester.

Portfolio aims to bring together over 250 exceptional Champagnes, rare grower bottles, vintage prestige cuvées and an immersive wine experience. The venue hopes to revolutionise Champagne culture in the UK by making Champagne accessible, exciting and suitable for every occasion.

The concept is led by Julian Pizer (formerly of Another Hand) and Cameron Foster (founder of Deux Six), alongside expert F&B Director Wayne Baxendale and General Manager Nikolai Kuklenko. Portfolio’s core offering is one of the UK’s largest and most diverse Champagne collections, featuring over 70 producers, focusing on independent growers, exclusive imports, and prestige cuvées.

Explaining the concept of Portfolio, Cameron Foster said: “We want to strip back the snobbery of Champagne and make it a wine for everyone, whether that’s a quick glass after work, a special celebration, or discovering grower Champagne for the first time.”

It’s a spot for every kind of drinker, whether you’re a total Champagne newbie, a full-blown connoisseur, after a quick, affordable glass or hunting down a once-in-a-lifetime bottle. And it’s not just about the bubbles either; the still wine list has been hand-picked by the team, with a proper deep dive into northern Italy and the US, showcasing the regions they know like the back of their hand.

The menu will feature plenty of accessible bottles and well-known names, as well as allowing guests to enjoy rare and highly sought-after cuvées, including Jacques Selosse, Ulysse Collin, Jérôme Prévost, Cédric Bouchard, Larmandier Bernier and Egly Ouriet. There will also be vintage prestige cuvées from Cristal, Philipponnat, Pommery, Jacquesson, Pierre Peters and Bollinger, some dating back to the 1990s.
