A new report seems to back up a big The Batman Part II rumor about a potential villain that could appear in the upcoming Matt Reeves sequel.

What’s the newest The Batman 2 villain update?

A new report from insider Daniel Richtman, he has heard that DC is looking to cast a “male villain” for the upcoming sequel. According to the insider, the role has been offered up to an “A-list actor,” although the exact identity was not listed.

This new report seems to back up a rumor that popped up earlier last week. Then, Jeff Sneider of The InSneider mentioned the possibility of a new male villain appearing in the movie. In a report about Scarlett Johansson’s involvement in the movie and what it could mean, Sneider notes that “another male villain” could be appearing in the movie. That villain? Possibly Doctor Arkham, according to Sneider.

That report also coincided with recent casting information that began circulating in October. According to a report from PopFilm (who also broke news like Joel Kinnaman and Kumail Nanjiani joining Peacemaker Season 2), The Crown actor Tobias Menzies is being eyed to play the role of Amadeus Arkham in The Batman Part II.

The name Arkham was briefly teased in 2022’s The Batman, with The Riddler being placed in Arkham State Hospital after being caught by Batman. As of now, it’s unknown what type of story The Batman Part II will follow, and who or how many villains will appear in the movie to go up against Robert Pattinson’s Batman.

Co-written by Reeves and Mattson Tomlin, The Batman 2 is expected to see Jeffrey Wright, Andy Serkis, and Colin Farrell reprise their respective roles as Jim Gordon, Alfred Pennyworth, and the Penguin. Zoe Kravitz, meanwhile, is not expected to return as Catwoman/Selina Kyle. Production on the film begins this coming spring.

The Batman 2 will be released in United States on October 1, 2027.
