Emmerdale and Coronation Street are both lining up some huge twists in the lead-up to 2026 and across New Year, with danger for some, and joy for others, with a wedding and possible exits

There’s some huge New Year twists planned across Emmerdale and Coronation Street.
On Emmerdale, things take a sinister turn as we head towards New Year. Spoilers remain vague for now, but they do detail “a threat to life in the village as danger looms? It’s said more than one character is at risk.
So might we see a shock death at the start of 2026? It seems Jai Sharma has found something out, and he “knows too much”. So might he spills the beans or threaten to, and could he face harm as a result?
Charity makes matters worse in her own situation, while April Windsor is said to find out something shocking and she wants to help. Suddenly Charity’s baby secret looks set to explode, and it’s teased “the threat to life is heightened”.

Over on Corrie, Carla’s silence leaves Kit Green doing some digging, and he come across her diary. He ends up doing some digging and finds out that when Costello was attacked, he kept repeating three words – with Kit realising it’s a three-word location reference.
Kit visits Costello in hospital, seemingly confirming Becky hasn’t hurt him, and he tells his boss he knows about the location, a flat. He gives nothing away, and Becky soon emerges when Kit leaves, having been there the entire time.
Later, Lisa tells Becky that she’s prepared to move to Spain with her but not until she’s seen Carla. When their daughter Betsy invites Lauren round, Becky is busy trying to speed up their move – resulting in horrifying consequences.
In the fallout, Becky encourages Lisa they need to ditch their phones as they prepare for their move for safety reasons. Just prior to this, Lisa has appeared to agree to the move, as she hands Sarah Platt an envelope and asks her to return Carla’s engagement ring to her when she finally shows up. After, Becky heads out promising she’ll be back with new phones before they leave for the ferry.

Theo targets Todd yet again, but will Billy Mayhew’s concern lead to the truth coming out? Billy starts to see the signs, but he soon fears Theo knows he’s onto him. When he leaves, Theo seethes at Todd.
Todd manages to get away, but Theo quickly messages him saying he can’t live without him, so will Todd be swayed? Later in the week as we head towards 2026, Billy sees Todd’s bruises so has all been revealed?
Maggie is left trying to pick up the pieces of her explosive Christmas lunch, and Abi Franklin breaks down to Tracy Barlow as she fears about her and Carl’s relationship.
As for Carl, here’s death heartache as his mother passes away. But there’s trouble ahead when Ryan Connor realises he’s changed the passwords on the hotel accounts.
Finally as New Year arrives, Debbie’s wedding to Ronnie approaches too. Sally tries to get Debbie’s brother Kevin Webster on board with the wedding, and he soon wants a word with Carl.

On the big day, Debbie reveals that she’s broken her specs and is worried it’s a bad omen. She soon orders her warring brothers to pack it in, while moving scenes see Debbie perform with the dementia choir.
There’s drama brewing though, as Abi finds a bag full of cash in the boot of Carl’s car but when they pull up at the hotel, Abi opens the boot and discovers the bag is gone. Abi reveals she thinks Carl is planning to do a runner, and Kevin’s incandescent – so has Carl finally been rumbled?
Finally, as pregnant Shona Platt puts away the Christmas decorations, she suffers a twinge and struggles to draw breath. David insists he’ll take her to get checked out.
