The road remains closed
A vehicle overturned in Bristol today after crashing into a streetlight, knocking it over and completely blocking the road.
Police, fire and ambulance crews were called to Park Road in Stapleton just before 10:30am (December 10).
A man and a woman, both in the car, were awaiting an ambulance assessment after the driver hit a lamppost, causing it to fall over.
The busy road between Duchess Way and Brinkworthy Road on the B4058 has been closed since the incident, resulting in slow traffic in the area.
Three fire crews from Temple, Avonmouth and Southmead fire stations attended the collision and made the vehicle safe, while working with the ambulance service to assist the casualties.

A spokesperson for Avon Fire and Rescue Service said: “At 10:27 on Wednesday 10 December, crews from Temple, Avonmouth and Southmead fire stations were called to a road traffic collision involving a single vehicle and a lamppost in the Park Road area of Stapleton, Bristol.
“On arrival, firefighters made the vehicle safe and worked alongside colleagues from the ambulance service to assist two casualties at the scene. “Officers from Avon and Somerset Police were also in attendance.”
Avon and Somerset police confirmed that the road is expected to remain closed until the vehicle is recovered and the streetlight is repaired.

A spokesperson from the force said: “Emergency services are at the scene of a single-vehicle collision during which a streetlight came down, blocking the road.
“It happened just before 10.30am on Wednesday 10 December in Park Road, Stapleton, Bristol.
“A man and woman who were in the vehicle are awaiting assessment by ambulance crew.
“The road is expected to remain closed pending recovery of the vehicle and repair to the streetlight.”
