An air ambulance landed after a man was stabbed in an attack outside a school in south Manchester on Wednesday morning (December 10).

Police and paramedics raced to the scene of the stabbing on Old Moat Lane at around 11.50am. The incident erupted outside the Old Moat Primary School but was unrelated to the school, police said.

It followed an altercation between three men. One of the men was rushed to hospital after sustaining non-life-threatening stab wounds.

Two others, aged 47 and 18, were arrested in connection with the incident. They remain in custody to be questioned following the attack.

An investigation has now been launched. Pictures showed how an air ambulance had landed in nearby Old Moat Park, off Yew Tree Road.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said in a statement: “We have arrested two men, aged 47 and 18, in response to a stabbing on Old Moat Lane today (10 December 2025).

“At around 11:50am, we were called to reports of a stabbing outside of a school in Withington involving an altercation between three men. A man sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment. There is thought to be no wider threat to the public and an investigation remains ongoing.”
