Catalans Dragons have been quiet as of late when it comes to recruitment, after doing most of their business earlier in the off-season. Now though, they have brought in their final signing before the new season.
Signing from Queensland Cup side Norths Devils, who are currently coached by former Leeds Rhinos boss, Rohan Smith, Joel Tomkins has opted to bring in winger Manase Kaho to the club until the end of 2027.
The 24-year-old has played for the Devils for the past three seasons, and boasts an impressive try scoring record, crossing 44 times in 53 appearances.
A former member of Canberra’s reserve grade set-up, Kaho spent two years at the Green Machine, before making the move to the Devils, where he went on to win the State Championship in 2024.
On his team that day were York Knights recruit Jordan Lipp, Leigh’s powerful centre Tesi Niu and Leeds prop Cooper Jenkins. He will be featuring against all of those next year, after inking a two-year deal to join the Perpignan outfit.
Tomkins was full of praise for his new recruit, as he also confirmed that the club’s recruitment is now complete.
He said: “Manase will be the last addition to our squad before the start of the season and someone I am very excited to have joining us.
“He will bring genuine speed and try scoring ability. Manase joins us at a great time in his development as a player and is motivated to take his game to the next level in Super League.
Kato joins Charlie Staines, Iszac Fa’asuamaleaui, Josh Allen, Solomona Faataape, Toby Sexton and Zac Lipowicz in making the move from Australia to the south of France this off-season.
