CCTV images have been issued in a bid to trace potential witnesses after a woman was attacked by a man along a canal towpath in Greater Manchester last month.

Greater Manchester Police said the victim was approached by a man while walking home along the Bridgewater Canal towpath, near to Timber Wharf. The incident was reported at around 2.50am on November 30.

The victim screamed before her attacker then fled the scene. It is believed he then passed two men walking in the other direction and briefly spoke to them.

Officers are continuing to investigate the attack and are treating the two men in the CCTV image as potential witnesses. They are attempting to trace them amid ongoing enquiries.

A spokesperson for GMP said:” Officers are appealing for witnesses to help with an investigation following an assault in Salford last month. On the 30 November 2025 at around 2.50am, a woman was walking home along the Bridgewater Canal tow path, near Timber Wharf, when a man attacked her.

“The woman screamed and the man let go of her and walked away. It is believed he then passed two men walking in the other direction and spoke to them briefly before walking on.

“Officers would like to speak to the two men pictured as potential witnesses, not suspects, to help us with us with our investigation. Any info? Call 101 quoting log 0427-30/11/25.”
