Virgin Media has gone down across Manchester and other parts of the UK. Thousands of reports have been made on DownDetector regarding Virgin services on Thursday night (December 11).

Some customers shared they had received an email indicating that Virgin WiFi, as well as TV services, may have been affected. Reports about the outage were first made at around 9pm.

One person in Oldham commented on Reddit that they ‘cannot get internet access or a service update from Virgin’ after their services went offline at around 9.30pm. Another said their usage was impacted in Ancoats, as well as Crumpsall, Blackley and Salford.

“Same for me in Salford (M7),” another posted. “I’ve had to drive for a couple of miles to get 5G as both Virgin Internet and 02 phone are down for me and I had a couple of important messages to send.”

According to DownDetector, the most reports were made in major UK cities including Manchester, London, Birmingham, Cardiff and Glasgow. More than 10,000 reports had been made by 11pm.

Virgin Media has not yet issued a public statement regarding the outage.
