Sheffield United have been predicted to beat West Brom 2-1 on Friday night by Sky Sports man David Prutton.

Sheffield United head into their upcoming Championship clash off the back of their 1-1 draw with Norwich City at home last time out. Danny Ings was on the scoresheet for SUFC against the Canaries but they weren’t able to find a winner.

The Blades are positioned in 17th place in the table after 20 fixtures. They are six points above the drop zone and eight off the play-offs.

Prutton, who used to play for the likes of Leeds United, Sheffield Wednesday and Swindon Town, has shared his prediction ahead of their upcoming games, as per a report by Sky Sports: “West Brom are a bit of a conundrum, having heard from Ryan Mason after the previous games. There is a man there who is not happy, who wants something more from his team. So hopefully it is a case of getting it sorted but you feel there will be a reaction from Sheffield United after getting back on an even keel and feeling like they were making some really good progress.

“The first finish line for Sheffield United, which was a very short one, was to get them out of trouble. It took a little bit longer than expected for Chris Wilder. After that, for a team that was minutes away from the Premier League last season, they absolutely have to make a beeline for the top six at least. I am going for a Sheffield United win 2-1 here.”

Sheffield United latest ahead of West Brom trip

Sheffield United have seen an upturn in form over recent weeks. SUFC re-appointed Chris Wilder back in September.

The Blades are unbeaten in their last six outings. They are now looking to climb up the division over the course of the festive period.

They reached the play-off final last season but missed out on promotion to the Premier League after losing to Sunderland at Wembley. Wilder was subsequently sacked and replaced by ex-Southampton, Reading and Hull City man Ruben Selles.

However, the Spaniard’s time at Bramall Lane turned into a disaster. He didn’t win a competitive game and was given the chop before Wilder was lured back to South Yorkshire to pick up the pieces.

Is Ryan Mason under pressure at West Brom ahead of Sheffield United clash?

West Brom have been inconsistent this term and find themselves in 16th position. WBA are six points off the top six.

The Baggies turned to Ryan Mason as their head coach in the summer and he was picked as their replacement for Tony Mowbray. The 34-year-old penned a three-year deal at The Hawthorns running until June 2028.

He left his position in the backroom staff team at Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League to date on his first managerial role in the Football League. The former Hull City man worked under Ange Postecoglou at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and helped his ex-team win the Europa League earlier this year after they beat Manchester United in the final in Sevilla.

Mason’s time at West Brom hasn’t quite gone to plan yet and his side have struggled for consistency. He may start to feel the pressure further if they are to lose again to Sheffield United.

The Baggies have won only one in their last five outings and seem to be lacking confidence. They lost 3-2 away at Southampton last time out. Karlan Grant and Nat Phillips got their goals against the Saints.
