Rain is expected to develop late on Saturday morning, becoming “persistent and heavy” before easing from the west on Sunday morning.

Most areas are likely to receive between 30 and 50 millimetres of rain, with higher ground potentially seeing up to 100 millimetres.

The Met Office has warned that “strong and gusty” southwesterly winds will accompany the rain.

Residents are being warned that some homes and roads could flood, with travel delays on roads and public transport likely.

Minor power outages may also occur.

The Met Office has advised people to plan ahead before travelling, allow extra time and prepare for possible disruptions to power and other essential services.

The warning affects the Highlands & Eilean Siar, Highland, Strathclyde, and Argyll and Bute.
