Elsewhere, Lohralee Astor, wife of the Hon. William Astor, cut a typically glamorous figure as she arrived alongside her family. Their inclusion in such an intimate occasion is a reflection of the important role they play in the lives of Princess Beatrice, Edo and their children.
It was reported that other members of the royal family, including King Charles III, were invited but did not attend. This is not unusual for such an intimate family gathering.
‘Beatrice is determined to keep the focus entirely on her daughter, but there is no escaping the moment’s significance as this will be the former Duke and Duchess of York’s first appearance at a royal family event and possibly the last time he steps foot in St James’s Chapel,’ a royal source told the Daily Mail ahead of the christening.

Princess Beatrice and her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, are also parents to daughter Sienna, born in 2021, and nine-year-old Wolfie, Edo’s son from a previous relationship with American architect and designer, Dara Huang.
Princess Beatrice gave birth to Athena prematurely in January, something she described as an ‘isolating’ experience. When Athena was born, Edo posted his own tribute to his youngest daughter, calling her ‘tiny and absolutely perfect.’ On Instagram, he wrote: ‘We welcomed Baby Athena into our lives last week… We are all (including Wolfie and Sienna) already completely besotted with her. Our hearts are overflowing with love for you, baby Athena.’ He continued, ‘A massive thank you from my wife and I goes out to all the wonderful staff at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital for their exceptional care and support during this incredibly special time.’
