Birmingham City could be without James Beadle until the New Year after Chris Davies confirmed the goalkeeper has suffered an ankle injury.

Beadle missed Blues’ 1-1 draw with Charlton at St Andrew’s @ Knighthead on Saturday after picking up the injury at Queens Park Rangers in midweek.

Ryan Allsop replaced Beadle between the sticks to make his first appearance since September but he couldn’t keep his third clean sheet of the campaign.

“James Beadle has an ankle injury,” Davies said. “He picked it up within the game against QPR but continued.

“We don’t know the exact (length). It’s not a long one from my understanding but I think there’s liaisons with Brighton being his parent club. We need to link up with them and work on a plan together.

“My understanding is that it’s not a long-term injury, it’s two or three games I think, but we need to get more confirmation next week about that.”

Blues travel to a rejuvenated Sheffield United next weekend before a home double-header against Derby County and Southampton to round off 2025.

Davies threw his weight behind Beadle pre-Charlton after errors in defeats to Southampton and QPR but Allsop now has the chance to re-establish himself as number one over Christmas.
