Parts of North Wales are under a 21 hour weather alert for rain, with potential flooding

North Wales is bracing for more torrential downpours tonight as an amber weather warning is issued for other parts of Wales.

A yellow weather alert comes into force for rain at 6pm tonight, lasting until 3pm tomorrow (Monday), with people warned flooding could cause disruption, covering Ceredigion, Conwy, Denbighshire, Gwynedd and Powys.

Then at midnight a yellow alert for rain comes into force for parts of south west Wales lasting all day Monday. A Met Office forecast for Wales said: “Today: A cloudier and windier day compared to Saturday with rain moving into the west and north, sometimes heavy. Glimmers of sunshine further east though where it will remain largely dry. Slightly milder than Saturday, but coastal gales in the northwest. Maximum temperature 12 °C.

“Tonight: Persistent rain affecting the west and north where localised flooding and disruption is possible. Rain arriving elsewhere after a drier start. Windy this evening, then winds ease overnight. Staying mild. Minimum temperature 9 °C.

“Monday: An unsettled day across the country, with cloudy skies and outbreaks of rain, some heavy, especially in the south and west. Local flooding possible. Remaining mild, with lighter winds too. Maximum temperature 12 °C.

“Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday: Things become more settled on Tuesday. High pressure builds in, giving a drier, brighter day. However, more unsettled, wet and windy conditions return for Wednesday and Thursday. Temperatures above average.”
