There is not long until the January transfer window opens for Manchester United, with work likely to be going on in the background in preparation for the window.
Rumours about potential comings and goings at Old Trafford are already swirling as Ruben Amorim looks to continue to shape his squad in his first full season at the club.
United have had a mixed first half of the season. The team currently sit in eighth place in the Premier League table, ahead of their clash against Bournemouth on Monday night.
There is still uncertainty over the availability of Bryan Mbeumo, Amad and Noussair Mazraoui for the game. All three players are representing their countries at the Africa Cup of Nations, meaning that they could be away until the middle of next month.
That could potentially have an impact on United’s transfer dealings in the January window. Here’s a look at just some of the latest rumours doing the rounds.
Rashford transfer reunion
Barcelona are reportedly ‘keen’ to make a move for Kobbie Mainoo in the January transfer window in a move that would see him reunited with former United teammate Marcus Rashford.
Rashford is currently on loan with Barca from United with the Spanish club having the option to make the move permanent.
Defensa Central now report that the Catalan giants are looking to potentially ‘tempt’ United to also part with Mainoo. The midfielder has struggled for regular game time under Amorim and is also reportedly attracting interest from the likes of Napoli, Juventus, and AC Milan as well as Premier League clubs.

Latest reports in Italy claim that United may be open to a January sale of Joshua Zirkzee, but only in the second half of the transfer window when players on duty in the Africa Cup of Nations return.
Calciomercato report that Roma are ‘stepping up the pressure’ and that the club have the ‘green light’ to start negotiations. It’s claimed that a loan deal with a €35 million (£31m) option to buy is being discussed.
The report, however, comes not long after it was reported that the striker is determined to remain at Old Trafford and battle for his place in the team. The absence of Mbeumo during the Africa Cup of Nations could give him the opportunity to do so.
Midfielder interest
United are showing ‘more and more’ interest in Ecuadorian midfielder Ederson Castillo, according to journalist Johanna Calderon. On a video on DeUnaSF, she outlined United’s growing interest in the young player.
The 17-year-old is likely to be one for the future if a deal is completed, with the teenager impressing with Liga Deportiva Universitaria. United are, however, said to face competition from several other clubs.
