Shocking footage appears to show a motorist driving at people on Deansgate.

A video shared widely on social media showed what appeared to be a grey BMW estate driving erratically on the main road in the early hours of this morning. A 25-year-old man was treated in hospital.

He is thought to have been injured after being hit by a car. Police said no arrests have been made in connection with the incident.

The footage appears to show the car drive on the wrong side of the road, with a person falling over close by. The car then turned around, and drove through the junction with Bridge Street at speed, and through a red light.

Onlookers could be heard to say ‘he’s going to kill someone’ and ‘stand out of the way’. The car then appears to return to the same area of Deansgate and ram into some fencing, before moving in the same direction for a second time.

A number of men appear to try and open the door of the car before it moves off. The car is then seen to travel to the junction with Bridge Street, before reversing back. While the car is not seen on footage for a short time, fighting appears to break out in the street.

The BMW then returns, again driving on the wrong side of one-way Deansgate. Despite the incident happening at about 5am, the streets were busy with revellers out in the city on one of the busiest nights of the festive calendar.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: “Shortly after 5am we were called to reports of a disturbance on South King Street, in Manchester city centre.

“Emergency services attended and a 25-year-old man was taken to hospital with injuries which are not life threatening.

“If anyone has any information or footage of the incident, please contact Longsight CID on 0161 856 4259, quoting log 707 of 14/12/25.”
