Sheffield United are expected to loan out Louie Marsh and Ryan One in the January window, according to The Star.

Sheffield United will view the January transfer window as a crucial opportunity to turn their season around. Chris Wilder has overseen notable improvements since his return to SUFC, but he needs help with new recruits.

Fresh signings are being targeted with the boss stating he wants three or four signings. It means that the Blades have to make room by offloading players though, and there are some leading candidates for January loan exits.

According to a report from The Star, young Sheffield United forwards Louie Marsh and Ryan One are both expected to make loan moves away from Bramall Lane when the transfer window opens.

Neither player has found regular opportunities around the first-team squad this season. Moves elsewhere for the second half of the campaign will help them continue their development with frequent game time.

Sheffield United exits will benefit both Louie Marsh and Ryan One

Marsh and One are two strikers who are highly regarded within the Sheffield United setup. Both have found senior opportunities in the Steel City, but the depth and experience up top means chances have dried up this campaign.

Marsh has come all the way through the SUFC ranks and already gained experience out on loan. Across spells with Fleetwood Town and Doncaster Rovers, the 21-year-old managed three goals in 24 outings.

As for One, he is yet to head out on a temporary basis. He played 36 times for former club Hamilton Academical before moving to the Blades though, so has been exposed to different environments at only 19.

The hope will be that both can go out and play regularly, coming back with extra experience and some senior goals under their belts. It could set both Marsh and One up for exciting 2026/27 campaigns.

Ideal destinations for Sheffield United’s young strikers

Not only do Marsh and One need loans, but they need to be to the right clubs. The relevant figures at Sheffield United will be careful in ensuring the youngsters go to the right teams, offering beneficial environments, smart coaching, careful man management and regular game time.

Given he has spent two spells in League Two, Marsh may well be lined up for a League One spell. Scotland is another avenue worth exporling.

As for One, he would be backed to go to League Two and really star. Doing so for a team towards the top end of the table could be beneficial, but SUFC may also feel he can be tested at a higher level off the bat.

Eyes will be on the youngsters’ loan fates as a busy January lays ahead.
