A man was seriously injured in a reported stabbing in Birmingham.

The emergency services were called to the junction of City Road and Portland Road in Edgbaston, just before 12.10pm on Monday (Dec 15).

West Midlands Ambulance Service paramedics administered trauma care to a male with ‘potentially serious injuries.’

West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We were called to reports of a stabbing at the junction of City Road and Portland Road, Edgbaston at 12.07pm today.

“An ambulance, paramedic officer and a MERIT trauma team responded.

“A man received trauma care on scene for potentially serious injuries before being conveyed to hospital for further care.”

West Midlands Police is investigating and will be providing a statement.

National Express West Midlands said the number 80 route was diverted via City Road, Sandon Road, Bearwood Road and Waterloo Road.

The service was restored around 2.15pm.
