A number of people were taken to hospital with injuries after a brawl broke out at popular bar in the city centre over the weekend.

Police were called to the Coyote Ugly bar on the Harbourside on Saturday (December 13) after a fight broke out between a large group of people.

A video taken at the scene shows a group of people fighting inside the venue as security attempt to break them up.

Police said number of people suffered injuries and were taken to hospital, but it is not thought that anyone suffered life-threatening or life-changing injuries.

In a statement, the force added that a man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm without intent, criminal damage, and assault by beating of an emergency worker.

The man has since been released on conditional bail.

Officers are now appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or who has information to get in contact with the force.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: “At 9.31pm on Saturday 13 December, we were called to reports of a fight on Bordeaux Quay in Bristol city centre.

“Officers attended and found a number of people had sustained injuries. While none of these were life-threatening or life-changing, several people were taken to hospital for treatment.

“A man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent, criminal damage and assault by beating of an emergency worker. The man was later released on conditional police bail.

“The police investigation is continuing. If you witnessed the incident and have not yet spoken to an officer, please call 101 using the reference number 5225350339.”

A statement from Coyote Ugly said: “We’re aware of an incident at Coyote Ugly Bristol on Saturday 13th of December.

“The situation was dealt with promptly by venue staff. Police attended and are now handling the matter.

“The safety of our guests and staff is our priority. Coyote Ugly operates a zero-tolerance policy towards violence or abusive behaviour.

“As this is now a police matter, we are unable to comment further at this time.”
