Police have arrested two women after a man was seriously injured in a broad-daylight stabbing earlier today.
The teenagers, aged 18 and 19, were arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm following the 12pm incident on City Road, Edgbaston this afternoon (December 15).
The victim, whose age is not known, suffered serious injuries near the junction of Portland Road.

West Midlands Police said the people involved in the incident were thought to be “known to each other.”
A statement from West Midlands Police read: “We were called to City Road at its junction with Portland Road, Edgbaston, shortly after 12pm today following reports a man had been stabbed. He was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
“Two women, aged 19 and 18, have been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and have been taken into custody as our enquiries continue. It is believed the people involved are known to each other.
“Witnesses or people with information should ring us on 101 quoting log number 2064 of December 15. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.”
Emergency services were called to the junction of City Road and Portland Road just before 12.10pm. West Midlands Ambulance Service paramedics administered trauma care to a male with ‘potentially serious injuries.’
West Midlands Ambulance Service added: “We were called to reports of a stabbing at the junction of City Road and Portland Road, Edgbaston at 12.07pm today.
“An ambulance, paramedic officer and a MERIT trauma team responded.
“A man received trauma care on scene for potentially serious injuries before being conveyed to hospital for further care.”
