It has been a brilliant fortnight for Leeds United. Daniel Farke saved his job and returned the Whites to the point-a-game curve, securing five points from the last three games.

It feels like a new era under Farke. Having lost six of seven games, Farke has completely changed Leeds’ tactics and formation, and it is working, even if he is reverting to a 4-3-3 later on in games to get a goal.

Gary Neville made the point that Leeds now have two plans, both of which are working. In the last two outings, 3-5-2 has worked initially before Leeds have changed to 4-3-3 and got themselves a goal.

It happened on Sunday against Brentford, and it happened in the 3-3 draw with Liverpool. Ao Tanaka’s late equaliser sparked pandemonium in the stands, and apparently, Liverpool’s players weren’t happy.

Obviously, it has been more than a week since the 3-3 draw. But the scenes after Tanaka’s late goal will live long in the memory of those who were at Elland Road that night, as I Predict A Riot blurted out.

Speaking to The Square Ball this week, however, LUTV commentator Bryn Law says it wasn’t all joy after Tanaka’s goal. He claims the Liverpool players were not happy with Leeds’ celebrations in the tunnel.

“Oh, brilliant. Back to the best,” Law said about Elland Road. “The way the games have gone, noise levels around significant moments, the scenes after Liverpool. Never has a home draw been celebrated…”

“There was a lot of chuntering from the Liverpool players down the tunnel at the end about why are they celebrating like this? It was a draw. So that probably raised eyebrows, but the games have been great.”

Liverpool guilty of hypocrisy after West Brom draw in 2015

More than a decade ago, Divock Origi scored a late goal to secure a 2-2 draw for Liverpool against West Brom. It saw then-Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp urge his players to celebrate in front of supporters.

It has since been billed as cringeworthy and completely unwarranted. Klopp – who is now working for Leeds and not Liverpool – has said he wanted a turning point and tried to induce it after Origi’s equaliser.

But for Liverpool to be angry after Leeds celebrated a home draw last time out at Elland Road, is not only hypocritical after the West Brom game 10 years ago, but Liverpool are a better side than this Leeds team.

To get a point against Liverpool was more impressive than Liverpool drawing with a West Brom side they were expected to beat. Liverpool would do well to remember that they are the cause of their downfall.
