The Labour politician was welcomed to the facility, based on Galt Avenue, by manager Tina Pollock, who said: “During his visit, we shared details about the project, the services we provide and the positive impact these have within the local community.”
Mr Alexander also met trustees from First Step’s strategic board.
He later said: “I was pleased to meet with the team at First Step in Musselburgh to discuss the vital role this project plays in supporting families with young children.
“For over 30 years, First Step has been at the heart of the local community, providing a welcoming space where families can find support, build resilience and give their children the best possible start in life.
“I appreciated the opportunity to hear about their future plans and the challenges they face as they continue to deliver such vital services for local families.”
