The Manchester City Manager teamed up with Michelin Star chef Paco Perez to open the venue in 2018 Pep Guardiola, Ferran Soriano, Paco Pérez, Txiki Begiristain

The restaurant Tast Catala, which was opened by Michelin Star chef Paco Perez and Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, has announced its closure after seven years in the city centre.

Located on King Street, the Catalan dining spot opened its doors in summer 2018. In a statement posted on social media this evening, the team announced they had made the ‘difficult decision’ to close this week. They cited ‘exceptionally challenging’ trading conditions and ‘increased costs’ as the reasons behind the sudden closure.

Seven years ago, the Blues boss teamed up with club CEO Ferran Soriano and former director of football Txiki Begiristain to invest in Tast, a restaurant bringing a taste of his native Catalonia to the city. World-renowned Catalan chef Paco Perez was brought in to oversee the venture, which was launched by independent rodizio restaurant group Fazenda.

Based in the site formerly home to Suri and previously Quill, the restaurant can seat 120 covers over three floors, with a casual dining and bar area on the ground floor, a first-floor dining room and a second floor with private rooms offering a tasting menu.

Tast is the Catalan word for “taste” – trying a small portion of a dish or a drink, trying an experience. The menu was designed to make guests feel as if they had stepped into Catalonia with sharing encouraged across its menu of small plates, nibbles and main courses.

The full post shared on Instagram read: “After much consideration, we have made the difficult decision to close Tast’s doors for the very last time on 20 December 2025.

“Tast has been built on the passion, talent and commitment of an exceptional team, and we want to begin by thanking every single person who has worked with us over the years. Your creativity, care and professionalism have been the heart of Tast.
