A teenage boy has been arrested in relation to a reported sexual assault at a Greater Manchester park. The incident is alleged to have taken place on Monday evening (December 15) at Plant Hill Park in Blackley.

The boy remains in custody after being arrested on Tuesday morning, with Greater Manchester Police saying the investigation is continuing. A police cordon was in place next to the playground at around 11am on Tuesday

Specialist officers have spoken with the victim and secured initial evidence.

The offence is being treated as an isolated incident and support is being provided to those affected.

Detective Superintendent Wesley Knights, City of Manchester North, said: “This is a deeply concerning incident and our priority is the welfare and support of the victim. We have acted swiftly to arrest a suspect, and our investigation is progressing at pace. We want to reassure the community that this is being treated as an isolated event and there is no wider risk to the public.”

“Anyone with further information that could assist our enquiries is urged to come forward,” he added.
