A man and a woman were rushed to hospital after a two-car collision outside a Birmingham Marks & Spencer branch.

The collision happened on Longbridge High Street, outside the store, at 2.36pm today, Tuesday, December 16.

Paramedics treated the man for ‘potentially serious injuries’ at the scene before he was rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital on blue lights.

The woman, a passenger in one of the cars, was treated for injuries not thought to be serious.

She was taken to the same hospital.

A driver of a car involved in the collision stopped at the scene and was helping officers with their enquiries.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called to reports of a collision involving two vehicles and a pedestrian on High Street at 2.36pm and sent two ambulances, three paramedic officers and the critical care car to the scene.

“On arrival crews found a man, the pedestrian, who they treated for potentially serious injuries before conveying him under emergency driving conditions to Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

“A woman, a passenger in one of the cars, was treated for injuries believed not to be serious and was also conveyed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital.”

A West Midlands Police spokesperson added: “We were called to Longbridge High Street shortly after 2.30pm today after a collision involving a car and a pedestrian. Officers attended and a man was taken to hospital, though his injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.

“The driver of the car involved remained at the scene to help officers with their enquiries.”
