A 15-year-old boy has been charged after a teenager was stabbed inside Merry Hill Shopping Centre.

Police were called to the Brierley Hill shopping centre on Friday, November 28, following reports a 17-year-old boy had been attacked.

Investigators said he suffered a small cut to his back.

A teenager, 15, has since been charged with assault and possession of a bladed article in a public place.

The accused, who cannot be named for legal reasons due to his age, is due to appear at Wolverhampton Magistrates’ Court tomorrow, December 17.

Two boys, 16 and 18, and a 19-year-old man who were arrested on suspicion of affray and wounding have been bailed pending further enquiries.

West Midlands Police said it was continuing to investigate the incident and urged anyone with information to contact the force by calling 101 and quoting 20/458619/25.

A force spokesperson said tonight: “A teenager is due to appear in court after a 17-year-old boy was attacked at Merry Hill shopping centre.

“On Friday, November 28, we quickly responded to reports a boy had been attacked with a knife.

“He received a small cut to the back.

“A 15-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has been charged with assault and possession of a bladed article in a public place.

“He is due to appear at Wolverhampton Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.

“Two boys, 16 and 18, and a 19-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of affray and wounding. They have been bailed pending further enquiries.

“Our investigation is continuing into the incident and we ask anyone who has not yet spoken to us to come forward.”
