A bus driver has been left with head injury after he was assaulted in Belfast city centre.

Police said they are investigating the incident which occurred on Saturday, December 13.

In a statement, a police spokesperson said: “We are investigating the assault of a bus driver in Belfast city centre.

Inspector Stuart Jackson added: “This assault took place on a bus on the evening of Saturday, 13th December.

“The bus driver sustained an injury to his head. Translink staff provide an essential service to the public and abuse of this nature is completely unacceptable. Our investigation is ongoing and we would appeal for any witnesses to come forward.

“We would ask for the support of the local community in showing zero tolerance to abuse of transport staff.
