Merseyside Police scene in Toxteth after a shooting as officers search nearby Granby Street.
A teenager has been charged after gunshots were reportedly fired at a house in Toxteth. Police were called to reports of shots being fired on Kingsley Road in the early hours of Sunday October 5 this year, resulting in damage to a window.
Following an investigation, 18-year-old Jama Yusuf, of Eversley Street in Toxteth, has been charged with possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and two counts of criminal damage. He was remanded into custody to appear at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court today, Wednesday December 17.
Detective Inspector Chris Clark from the firearms investigation team said: “Gun crime remains a priority for Merseyside Police and we remain committed to investigating any incidents and bringing the offenders to justice.
“We would continue to ask our communities to come forward with information to assist us in taking positive action to keep people safe.”
Following the shooting at 12.15am on October 5, an extensive cordon was set up in the area surrounding Kingsley Road. A fingertip search on Seaport Street produced three bullets from the roadside and pictures taken at the scene showed the unfired rounds being placed into evidence tubes and carefully packaged away by the forensic team.
The scene was guarded by an armed response officer who had a handgun strapped to his leg at the time.

Detective Chief Inspector Stephen Ball said at the time: “The risks of firing a gun in a residential street are clear and such dangerous and reckless behaviour will never be tolerated by Merseyside Police.
“There were people inside the home at the time and it’s only through chance alone that nobody was harmed in this incident.
“Our officers will be at the scene to carry out initial enquiries. If you live locally and saw or heard anything, or may have captured the incident or suspects making off on CCTV, dashcam or doorbell devices, please come forward as soon as possible.
“Gun crime has been significantly reduced in recent years but we are under no illusions that every single such incident caused fear and risk within those communities affected.
“Information is always the key to finding those responsible and removing them and any weapon from the streets. So please tell us what you know and we will take positive action.”
