Love Island USA star Amaya Espinal was rushed to the hospital in Los Angeles over the weekend where she reportedly underwent emergency surgery.

Espinal, who won season seven of the Peacock show with Bryan Arenales, had started experiencing ‘severe’ abdominal pain before being taken to a nearby hospital, according to TMZ.

Her symptoms reportedly worsened and she was required to undergo surgery ‘earlier this week.’

Espinal remains hospitalized as she recovers from the procedure and she is said to be in stable condition.

The 26-year-old reality TV fixture has recently been filming Beyond the Villa, a Love Island spinoff series, in Los Angeles, per the outlet.

She was reportedly not working on set at the time of the incident when her symptoms became severe.

The Daily Mail has reached out to representatives for Espinal for comment but has yet to hear back.

Espinal, who is a licensed cardiac nurse, appeared to confirm the health scare when she uploaded a photo of herself in what appeared to be a hospital room to Instagram on Wednesday.

The photo showed a bouquet of flowers sitting on Espinal’s hospital bedside table with a card from ITV and the Beyond the Villa production team ‘wishing [her] a speedy recovery.’

Espinal has not yet revealed the cause of the severe abdominal pain that sent her to the hospital or shared any additional details about her health scare.

Espinal rose to fame after joining and winning season seven of Love Island USA, which premiered in June.

She was in a couple with her then-boyfriend Bryan Arenales, but one month after winning the show and taking home the prize money, the pair called it quits.

In late August, Espinal shared a statement about their breakup and explained why they parted ways.

‘After leaving the villa, it became very clear we were on two different journeys,’ she wrote in an Instagram post. ‘Our visions didn’t align and relationships are supposed to be a team sport.’

She continued: ‘You don’t have to drink the whole sea to know it’s salty. All love here and I truly wish him the best.’

Shortly after the split, fans started speculating the couple parted ways due to infidelity rumors.

Espinal fueled the rumors when she commented on a TikTok user’s video claiming Arenales was at a club with another woman at the time.

She suggested that Arenales was the one who initiated the split and had quickly moved on by ‘doing the exact things’ she had told him would ‘hurt her feelings.’

‘Imagine being broken up with just to come on TikTok a couple hours later already in distraught [sic] to see that he’s in Miami two hours later doing the exact things you told him hurts your feelings,’ she had commented.

The star, who is affectionately called ‘Amaya Papaya’ by her fans, also shared a post about their breakup on her Instagram Story around the same time.

‘My papayas — Bryan and I are no longer together,’ she wrote to her 3.4 million followers.

‘After leaving the villa, it became very clear that we were on two different journeys,’ she concluded.

The exes are both currently in Los Angeles together to film season two of Beyond the Villa, the spinoff show following the stars of Love Island USA’s season seven stars.
