The Spanish and Basque port city is well known for its thriving culinary scene, boasting beloved regional delicacies like pintxos, a special sirloin steak known as txuletas, and a sort of fish stew called kokotxas.
The city also has a proud industrial heritage, something that can be learned about in its wonderful Guggenheim Museum.
One of Europe’s largest markets, the Ribera Market, can also be found here, and visitors are regularly told to visit Casco Viejo, the Old Town.
At the time of writing, Vueling is the largest airline in Spain and already operates a bi-weekly route from Edinburgh to Barcelona.
This new flight comes after easyJet, a similar budget airline, launched a new route to Austria from Edinburgh’s international airport.
The flight goes to Innsbruck in the Austrian Alps and made its inaugural flight from Edinburgh on Sunday, December 7.
