Edinburgh locals on a busy road were left intrigued as a VIP was spotted driving through the capital on Thursday morning. Footage taken on St John’s Road show a police escort passing through around 10am.

It’s understood the person in question was Princess Anne who has reportedly been attending a number of events in the capital and West Lothian on December 18.

A video clip taken just after 10am, show a police bike and car as a Range Rover vehicle was being led through.

According to Royal Central on X, formerly Twitter, Anne was due to open the new Indoor Riding Arna in Edinburgh as well as attend the Linlithgow Marches Golden Jubilee at St. Michael’s Parish Church.

A statement reads: “The Princess Royal is in Scotland and will attend the Linlithgow Marches Golden Jubilee at St. Michael’s Parish Church in Linlithgow.

“Open the new Indoor Riding Arna in Edinburgh, as President of the Riding for the Disabled Association.”

Back in September, Edinburgh Live reported a police escort was spotted driving through the city. Princess Anne was in the capital as she attended the Edinburgh Riding of the Marches and joined over 200 horses and riders up the Royal Mile.
