  • Royal fans may have gotten a rare glimpse at Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank’s nanny for their two sons
  • The couple drove with a mystery guest to King Charles’ Christmas lunch in London on Dec. 16
  • Prince William and Kate Middleton’s nanny also attended the festive event

Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank attended King Charles‘ annual Christmas lunch with a mystery guest.

On Dec. 16, Princess Eugenie, 35, and Jack, 39, were photographed driving as they attended the King’s Christmas luncheon at Buckingham Palace in London, where they were accompanied by a fresh face.

Traveling in the backseat of the car alongside one of their sons, who sat in a carseat, was a woman believed to be their nanny.

Princess Eugenie and Jack share two young sons, August, 4, and Ernest, 2, and nannies are commonplace in the royal family.

King Charles and the late Princess Diana had multiple nannies through the years to help them look after Prince William and Prince Harry when they were boys, and it’s thought that Princess Eugenie’s sister, Princess Beatrice, also has childcare help.

In July, Princess Beatrice, 37, and her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, attended the London homecoming parade celebrating England’s women’s national soccer team winning the UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 with their children and a helper in tow.

Beatrice and her Italian property developer husband, 42, share daughters Sienna, 4, and Athena, 10 months, plus his son Christopher Woolf, 9, from a previous relationship, and their apparent nanny helped watch over the kids.

The mystery guest believed to be Eugenie’s nanny wasn’t the only royal nanny at the palace Christmas lunch, which is a private gathering for the extended royal family typically held a week before Christmas.

Prince William and Princess Charlotte were also spotted driving with Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo, the family’s longtime nanny. It marked a rare appearance for Borrallo, who has worked for Prince William and Kate Middleton since Prince George was 8 months old.

When they were younger, Borallo was often spotted looking after Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7, behind the scenes of many royal events, from tours to Trooping the Colour and weddings.

She is a graduate of the elite Norland College, where the rigorous childcare coursework is nicknamed “Mary Poppins meets James Bond,” and she has a close connection with the children.

“Maria loves the children dearly. She can be firm and strict, but she is very loving and soft with them too,” a source previously told PEOPLE.
