Here’s a roundup of some the main events taking place over the coming week in South Leeds.

We start this week in Hunslet where the Insight mental health peer support group are fundraising on Saturday. There will be craft stalls, cake stalls, sweet stalls, bric a brac stalls, lucky dips and a bottle raffle. On top of that, Opera North will be performing and of course there will be a visit from the big man. It all takes place at the Involve Community Centre, Whitfield Avenue, LS10 2QE from 12-3pm.

Then from 1-4pm there will be a festive feel at the Belle Isle Repair Café at BITMO’s GATE, LS10 3QH. As well as the fixers and stitchers on hand to give your goods a second lease of life, there will be a visit from Santa and gifts for the first 50 children aged 2-12 years. There will also be stalls, winter coats and tea and cake will be on offer. From 1:30pm there will be a Councillor surgery.

And finally, Leeds United entertain Crystal Palace in the Premiership on Saturday evening, kicking off at 8pm. You can expect the usual heavy traffic and parking issues around Beeston, Holbeck and Cottingley before and after the match.
