An uninsured driver ran away from his van after being pulled over – leaving everything behind for police. Greater Manchester Police says the Ford Transit driver was clocked using his phone behind the wheel in Whitefield.

After parking the white van up – stopping the vehicle at an angle on the pavement – the driver fled the scene. Officers searched the van before discovering the driver had left his keys, two phones and his building materials behind.

Following the incident on Friday morning (December 19), GMP Bury shared an image on Saturday night with a message for the driver, should he wish to be ‘reunited’ with his belongings. A GMP Bury spokesperson said: “Friday morning saw our Special Constables stop this van after observing the driver using a mobile phone whilst driving.

“The van stopped but the driver didn’t – choosing instead to make a rapid exit on foot! Unfortunately, he wasn’t insured and even more unfortunate, he left the vehicle keys behind along with two mobile phones.

“The driver has now been identified… If you were the driver and you’d like to be reunited with your van, mobile phones and the building materials in the rear, please contact us, we’re holding onto them for you!”
