A teenager has been arrested after a woman was found dead at an address in Oldbury.

The sad discovery was made in the early hours of this morning (Sunday, December 21) on Barncroft Road.

Medics tried to help the woman, who was unresponsive, and she was confirmed dead at the scene.

A 19-year-old man has since been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Chief Inspector Imran Mirza from Sandwell Police, said: “Our thoughts remain with the woman’s family at this awful time who are being supported by specialist officers.

“This is a fast-moving investigation, and we have one person in custody for questioning.

“We are reviewing CCTV footage, carrying out house to house enquiries and examining forensic evidence.

“You will see more officers around who will be in the area to offer reassurance to the local community.”

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: “An investigation has been launched following the death of a woman in Oldbury.

“We were called to an address in Barncroft Road in the early hours of this morning (21 Dec) where a woman was found unresponsive.

“A 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.”
