The bizarre moment when a man dressed as the Grinch was “given a ticket” in Edinburgh city centre was caught on video. Footage showed the man waiting as a female officer appeared to write him up for an alleged offence.

In the video – which was shared on TikTok – the man dressed in a Santa suit with green Grinch legs can be seen standing next to a tricked-out bumper car, complete with Christmas lights and tinsel. The caption reads: “Only in Scotland! Santa’s getting a ticket.”

The incident appeared to have taken place on St Andrew’s Square in front of Gordon Ramsay’s Bread Street Kitchen. The vehicle can be seen parked up on a main road.

It remains unclear why the man was being spoke to by officers.

An earlier video captured by a different user on the video sharing platform showed the same man in the bumper car driving on the pavement along Princes Street with another man.
