A Good Morning Britain star shared some heartbreaking news, just months after they announced their exit from the ITV show.
TV star Richard Gaisford revealed in October that he was leaving the programme after over 25 years on our TV screens. He said in a statement: “I have been privileged to have the best job in TV news for the last quarter of a century, trusted to take a front row seat at history-making events all over the world.
“I have worked with an incredible team of journalists and camera operators, broadcasting to a highly responsive breakfast audience.” He added: “I’m really excited about moving on to new opportunities in a fast-changing media world, starting another chapter in my career.”
Despite leaving GMB, Gaisford will remain within the ITV family, focusing on current affairs programming. However, months after his exit announcement and Richard has been hit with heartbreak as his beloved family dog has sadly died.

Taking to his Instagram last week Richard shared a slew of snaps of his dog, Bertie, and paid tribute to the “heart of our family”. He wrote: “RIP our dear Bertie. Today, after 16 years, we’ve said farewell to our first family dog.
“The most loyal and loving friend. We’ll miss his gentle, calm nature, the companion who always gave back double the affection he received and, of course, that magnificent mane.

“Bertie was such a chilled spaniel, a perfect role model for Daisy when she joined us eight years ago. He has been a rock for the whole family, and saw us through some tough times.
“We will all miss him deeply, but feel blessed to have had such a happy, healthy and handsome boy at the heart of our family for such a long and wonderful time.”

Rushing to the comments section, his followers and GMB co-stars rallied around with support. Kate Garraway said: “So sorry Richard – heartbreaking the loss – and you’ll miss all the love but hopefully have wonderful memories.”
Meanwhile, one fan said: “Oh so sorry to hear. Thinking of you all.” Another added: “Sorry to hear that Richard. Our pets are such a massive, integral part of our lives, it’s always a huge loss.”
