A driver has died following a medical emergency in Birmingham.

The male driver was found by paramedics in a critical condition on Wake Green Road in Moseley at 7.28am today, Monday, December 22.

Nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene.

Police sealed off the road for several hours following the incident, which was reported as a collision by West Midlands Roads.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson told BirminghamLive: “We were called to reports of a medical emergency in a car on Wake Green Road, Moseley at 7.28am today.

“An ambulance, paramedic officer, a trauma team and a BASICS doctor responded.

“The driver of a car, a man, was in a critical condition.

“Despite the best efforts of ambulance staff nothing could be done to save the man and he was confirmed deceased on scene a short time later.”

Drivers were urged to avoid the area following the incident.

The number 1 and 41 bus services were diverted away from the scene.

In an earlier statement, a spokesperson for West Midlands Roads said: “Road traffic collision on Wake Green Road near School Road junction.

“Road partially blocked.

“Plan Ahead. Allow extra time for your journey and consider alternative routes where possible.”
