Let me set the scene for you. You’ve spent the morning tearing open presents and stuffing your face with, quite literally, anything in sight. You’ve had a glass of bubbly in your hand since the crack of dawn. You’ve got an evening of Monopoly-induced chaos ahead of you. And suddenly, out of nowhere, your mum suggests heading out on a nice Christmas Day walk.
Now look, I’m whole-heartedly in support of staying in your pajamas for the entirety of Christmas day week. But for some, heading out on a crisp seasonal stroll is as much of a Christmas Day tradition as fighting over the last roast potato is. And hey, maybe if I lived somewhere that was home to some of the best Christmas Day walking spots in the country, I’d be more inclined to wrap up warm and head out on a winter wander. Oh wait…
Recent research has revealed that our lovely, leafy London is, in fact, home to four of the UK’s very best parks for a Christmas Day walk. The research comes courtesy of price comparison site, idealo, who scoured the length and breadth of the country in search of the very best backdrops for your festive strolls.

Taking into account factors including park ratings, Google searches, and social media engagement; idealo was able to crunch the numbers like snow beneath their feet to reveal the country’s best parks for a Christmas Day wander. And I really don’t mean to brag but London dominated the charts, with four of the capital’s best-loved green spaces making the top five.
The UK’s best park for a Christmas Day walk
London’s largest (and loveliest) Royal Park was crowned the best of all when it comes to a Christmas Day stroll. Boasting a 4.7 rating, 301,000 monthly Google searches, and a rather staggering 503,000 Instagram posts; Richmond Park is a jaw-droppingly beautiful park, and so its unsurprising that it nabbed the top spot.
Home to acres upon acres of ancient woodland, rolling hills, sweeping grasslands, and incredible wildlife; Richmond Park really is one of those places that has something for everybody. You can visit the Isabella Plantation, seek out the herd of free-roaming deer, and soak in some sensational scenery in this wintery wonderland. Hyde Park, Greenwich Park, and Hampstead Heath also earned themselves a spot in the top five best parks for a Christmas Day walk. Not bad at all, hey?
