Watch: Families reunited at Belfast City Airport as people return home for Christmas
One of the most famous Christmas movies, Love Actually, opens with a montage of people embracing and a monologue from Hugh Grant’s character. In it, he says that whenever he gets gloomy with the state of the world, he thinks about the arrivals terminal at Heathrow Airport, and the pure, uncomplicated love felt as friends and families welcome their arriving loved ones.
This morning, it was a similar scene of smiles, hugs and festive cheer as Belfast City Airport celebrated its busiest travel day of the year, with around 10,000 people flying to and from Northern Ireland for the holidays.
