A person has been rushed to hospital after a crash on a major Sheffield road.

Traffic has been halted on the A6135 Burngreave Road in both directions ever since the crash at about 1pm today (Monday, December 22). The road is affected from B6075 Minna Road to Catherine Road.

Photos from the scene appear to show two cars were involved in a head-on collision. The patient has been taken to Northern General Hospital.

A Yorkshire Ambulance Spokesperson said: “We received an emergency call just after 1pm on Monday afternoon to report a collision on Burngreave Road, Sheffield. Two ambulances were dispatched to the scene and one patient was conveyed to Northern General Hospital.”

A South Yorkshire Police spokeserson said: “Emergency services are currently at the scene of a collision in Burngreave Road, near Minna Road. One person has been taken to hospital by ambulance and a road closure is in place while officers carry out further enquiries.”
