Eddie Gray was “absolute gentleman” when he met fans at a Leeds United pub.

The Scottish sporting legend, 77, who played under the great Don Revie in the 1960s and 70s, visited The Moot Hall Arms on Sunday, December 21. Eddie has recently penned Eddie Gray’s Leeds: An Alternative History with author Robert Endeacott. They were visiting the city-centre pub for a book signing event.

The Moot, based on Mill Hill, was turned into an LUFC fan pub by landlady Claire, who recently spoke about “falling in love” with 90s Leeds attacking midfielder Gary Speed.

Speaking about Sunday’s event, Claire said: “He was an absolute gentleman, a really really nice guy. He spoke very affectionately about his family. He was telling us that his wife Linda was cooking the dinner while he was working.

“What stood out for me was the way he was interacting with young fans and the way he was with the children. He took the time to speak to them. One little boy came in and he was a goalkeeper for his school team, and Eddie was asking him his stats and what he enjoyed. It was just really wholesome. A really nice family interaction.”
