Leeds United summer recruitment looks to finally be bearing fruit this month, but it could have been even better if we landed key targets.
A six-point gap to the bottom three is about as good as we all hoped after promotion in the summer. We’re proving to be more than competitive in the Premier League and it stands us in good stead for the rest of the campaign.
Rewind a couple of months and fans were throwing criticism online at the lack of impact made by transfers, coinciding with missed targets having storming seasons.

Harry Wilson in incredible form as Leeds United watch on with jealousy
Twice Leeds have had a Welsh winger ripped from their clutches on the 11th hour of deadline day. In 2019 it was Dan James, and in 2025 it was Harry Wilson.
The Fulham winger looked to be potentially joining us on the final day of the summer window. However, Fulham’s own business was the stumbling block, and when their attempt to sign Tyrique George from Chelsea fell through, they pulled the plug on Wilson joining United.
Since then, Wilson’s proven exactly why he would have been an ideal signing for Leeds. He’s scored five this season and added to his catalogue of outrageous goals in the process.

Tonight, Leeds fans ought to keep an eye on developments at Craven Cottage, as they face Nottingham Forest, who are currently below Leeds after our win over Crystal Palace.
Harry Wilson reveals how close he was to joining Leeds United
It’s all worked out well for Wilson, who is absolutely playing himself further into new contract discussions at Fulham.
Ahead of their game this evening at home to Forest, he discussed how deadline day transpired as he missed out on a move to Elland Road.
“It was the first time it had happened to me,” Wilson told Sky Sports. “I’m used to watching it on Sky Sports, so to be part of it was different.
“My phone was going off every two minutes. It was going to happen, then it wasn’t going to happen. Then it was back on, then it was off.
“It wasn’t a certain few days or 24 hours. I didn’t know where I was going to be. It was a bit of a relief when the window closed and I could concentrate on the football.”
Harry Wilson could have been huge for Leeds United this season
It’s ironic how Wilson’s found the best form of his career in the Premier League while we’re now probably not looking for a right-winger anymore.
The change to a 3-5-2 comes as part of the fact that we looked so toothless in a 4-3-3 initially. However, Wilson joining us might have changed Farke’s fortunes in his favoured formation.
As we look to January, you can surely write off any revived effort for Wilson from Fulham, even if he’s not penned a new contract.
He’s looking far too good this season and Fulham are directly competing with us to stave off relegation.
